Artist B. R. Kulkarni was invited to do a portrait painting demonstration using a live model. He chose to do this portrait painting using dry pastels. This event was organised on the sidelines of his solo exhibition of figurative paintings at Indiaart Gallery, Pune. The painting demonstration was arranged in such a way that the model sat in front of the audience.
Born and brought up in Belgaum, he completed G. D. Art Painting in 1964. He was awarded by Lalit kala Academy, Karnataka State. He served as vice President of The Art Society of India, Mumbai. He is the nephew of eminent artist and art teacher K. B. Kulkarni, under whose guidance many well known artists have taken lessons.
